Parks July Happenings

FREE Movies in the Park –

Friday, July 12, “Hocus Pocus” at High Point Park, 7800 S. 1000 E.; July 19, “Moana” at Buttercup Park, 10075 S. 1550 E.; July 26, “Mary Poppins” at Bell Canyon Park 11400 S. 1700 E. 

Family Night at the Skate Park –

6–8 pm at Lone Peak Skate Park. “Family Skate” on Monday, July 15, August 26, and September 23. “Play It Safe”on Monday, August 12.  “Carnival Party” on Monday, September 9. Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. 

Boy Scout Classes –

Citizenship in the Nation, July 23; Citizenship in the World, August 20; Citizenship in the Community, Sept.17; Citizenship in the Nation, Oct.15; and Citizenship in the World, Nov 19. Classes are $13/each and run from 4–6 pm. 

Start Smart Classes –

Choose from a variety of classes for parent/child involvement to help prepare children ages 3–5 for future participation in youth sports. Costs $35/per session. Next session begins August 20. 

Spock’s Skate Camp –

Learn the fundamentals of skateboarding. Helmets, knee, and elbow pads required. Session 2 is July 12, 19, and 26 OR Session 3 on August 2, 9, and 16. Camps held Fridays from 8:30–10:30 am. Camp costs are $65-$75.

Fall Soccer Academy –

Instructors will be provided by Utah Avalanche Soccer. The focus will be on individual ball skills, balance, and movement, and introduction to the team aspect of the game for ages 4–8. Held at Lone Peak Park, 10140 S. 700 E. Online registration begins July 29.

NEW Adult Pickleball League -

Designed to keep everyone playing in a social and fun environment. The league is set up as a round robin mixer. Held on Tuesday, August 27, September 3, 10, and 17 at Dewey Bluth Park Pickleball Courts, 170 East. 9800 South. Registration is July 1–August 15.

Ladies Golf Clinics –

Throughout the 5-week program, learn the mechanics and fundamentals of putting, chipping, full swings, and rules/etiquette. Location: River Oaks Golf Course. Register online at

Junior Golf Program –

Next session begins July 15. Program includes short game practice, range balls, instruction, video analysis, and on-course playing time. Visit 

Summer Tennis –

Receive tennis lessons from one of our experienced instructors. Held in two-week sessions, Monday–Thursday at Alta Canyon Sports Center. Sessions run July 8–18 and July 22–Aug 1.

Swimming Lessons –

Swim lessons taught by American Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructors. Group, Private, and Semi-Private lessons available. Lessons held at Alta Canyon Sports Center.
