In the biggest announcement in Sandy City history, Mayor Dolan unveiled the 1100-acre city center in 2015, The Cairns. Since then, the city’s urban core has evolved with:

  • The opening of Monroe Street
  • An implementation of a new 10600 South off-ramp to be completed in 2017
  • The groundbreaking for a 12+ story high-rise, high-end residential project
  • Hale Centre Theatre featuring a 450-seat proscenium thrust stage and a world-class 850-seat theater-in-the-round stage for professional family theater
  • The Park at City Center, a 330-unit resort-style class A mid-rise apartment community as well as many other housing options with close proximity to mass transit and downtown amenities

With a planned 20-million square feet of development, the city center plan includes:

  • New trails
  • Enhanced transportation to minimize congestion and ample walkable event parking
  • A bustling arts and entertainment scene
  • The “mountain meets urban” renovated The Shops at South Town
  • A variety of housing options hotels, office and retail

The Cairns will be an international base camp for recreation in the Wasatch canyons.
